SJVN Awards 1,000 MW Solar EPC Contract to Tata Power Solar

Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd. has been awarded a Letter of Award (Letter of Award) by SJVN for the engineering, procurement, and construction of a 1,000 MW solar project in Bikaner, according to Nand Lal Sharma (the Chairman and Managing Director of SJVN). According to Sharma, this is the biggest solar EPC deal in India’s history.

To develop a 1,000 MW solar power plant in Bikaner, Rajasthan, state-run SJVN Ltd selected Tata Power Solar Systems Ltd. The overall cost of building and development of the project was Rs 5,491.89 crore.

First-year output will be 2,454.55 million units, and over the course of 25 years, it will total 56,838.32 million units. Over the course of 25 years, this project will cut greenhouse gas emissions by about 27,85,077 tonnes. By May 2024, the project will be operational.

The recent purchase of solar projects has enabled SJVN’s Shared goal of 5000 MW in 2023, 25000MW in 2030, and 50000MW in 2040. There is an EPC contract that includes the whole delivery of the commissioned SJVN solar power plant, including the arrangement of a site, the power evacuation system to ISTS Substation, and three years of solar PV plant operations/maintenance. India’s aim of 500GW non-fossil fuel energy capacity and a decrease in overall carbon emissions by one million tonnes by 2030 will be met with this project.

According to the CPSE Scheme (central government sector enterprise), SJVN was awarded the 1,000 MW solar power project after a competitive bidding procedure.

SJVN’s portfolio is continually being expanded to include more capacity. Currently, SJVN has over 31,000 MW of power plants. Hydro, thermal wind, solar, and solar are all used by the SJVN to produce electricity. As a result, it has also branched out into the transmission and trading of electricity.

India Adds 10 GW Solar Capacity in 2022

According to Mercom Communications India, Solar power generation in India is expected to rise by an extraordinary 210 percent to 10 gigawatts by 2021. Mercom Communications India is a subsidiary of Mercom Capital Group, a US-based investment firm.

In CY 2021, India installed a record 10 GW of solar capacity. When compared to the previous year’s 3.2 gigawatts, this is a 210 percent increase. Newly installed solar capacity in 2021 set a new high and accounted for 62% of overall power generation growth in 2021, according to the report. Only 68 percent of the total installations in the calendar year 2021 came from the top 10 solar power producers, according to research from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). Utility-scale solar developers Renew Power and Adani Green were the most well-known.

Arctech Solar was the leading provider of solar trackers in 2021, while Sungrow was the leading seller of solar inverters. In 2021, rooftop solar power capacity grew by 1.7 GW. Tata Power Solar installed the most rooftop solar panels, with a 20 percent share of the market.

Solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) service providers reported a rise in projects in 2021 compared to the previous year, according to research. Sterling & Wilson was the year’s top EPC supplier, followed closely by Siemens Gamesa and Tata Power Solar, according to the survey.

As compared to prior years, the number of open-access solar installations climbed by 222%. It was the second-best year in the company’s history. Imports of solar panels will rise by a whopping 641% in 2021. For the second consecutive year, LONGi Solar was the leading module provider in India.

TEDA to Install Solar System to Generate 10 MW Power on Government Office Rooftops

The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Authority (TEDA) plans to put solar panels on the rooftops of government buildings in order to generate 10 MW of power. Solar panels at TEDA cost Rs 45,000 per kilowatt and generate 5 units of power, according to the organization’s officials.

More than 330 institutions in the state have solar panels thanks to the TEDA’s work. 1.5 MW is its total installed capacity. The project is expected to cost Rs. 50 crore when completed. The tendering procedure will be completed by May.

Some government departments are reluctant to put solar panels on roofs because of a shortage of funding, according to the authority’s request to the government. These divisions should be supported by the federal government. Proposals to put solar panels on the rooftops of government buildings have already been filed to the administration.

Senior TEDA official told us that surplus electricity can be connected to the common power system and subsidies for solar power can be employed. Taking a political choice and coordinating with other agencies and authorities is essential.

Solar energy and other renewable sources are supported by the government, according to Tamil Nadu’s electricity minister Senthil Balaji, who spoke to media. The power department is now undertaking a thorough investigation and due diligence on the production of electricity and the connection of surplus electricity to the common grid.
