Tata Power Solar Commissioned 450 MW DC Solar Plant In Rajasthan For Brookfield Renewable India

Tata Power Company’s wholly-owned subsidiary which is Tata Power Solar Systems Limited has recently commissioned a 450 MW DC capacity-oriented solar power plant in Jodhpur, Rajasthan for Brookfield Renewable India.

The whole installation process is said to be entailing the setting of over 800,000 modules and the entire process took almost 7 months of duration to get completed. The completed project of solar power plant is expected to produce over  800 GWH clean energy in a year and will also work to avoid up to 600,000 tons of Co2 emissions in a year.

The project has been formulated under the strategic partnership between Axis Energy ventures India Limited and Brookfield Renewable India. However, the Tata Power Solar System was the successful construction partner for the project along with Axis Bank and HSBC bank as the financial partners. As per the reports, the company has said to have inked a 25 year power purchase deal and agreement with NTPC limited, which will further sell the electricity and power to Puducherry Electricity Department and Madhya Pradesh Power Purchase Company Limited.

Open Access Applications & Connectivity Integration of CTUIL through NSWS!

Bids Open for 75 MW Solar projects in Uttar Pradesh

Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has invited bids to develop 75 MW of projects at the UP Solar Park for which May 31, 2022, is the deadline for submitting proposals.

To implement the solar park, Lucknow Solar Power Development Corporation is responsible. The project will be at Makrecha village (25 MW), Banghauli (20 MW), and Tikar 1 & Tikar 2 (30 MW) in Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district.

As an earnest money deposit, bidders will be required to pay 800,000. The selected bidder will be required to provide 1.05 million ($13,536)/MW within 30 days of the letter of intent or signature of the PPA, whichever occurs first. For 25 years, the tender’s ceiling tariff has been fixed at 3 ($0.04)/kWh. Minimizing technological risk and completing projects on schedule need only commercially proven and operational technologies.

For a period of 25 years, Uttar Pradesh Electricity Corporation would directly buy power produced by these chosen 75 MW solar projects under a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the distribution firms (DISCOMs).

It is important for the solar developer to provide the yearly capacity utilization factor (CUF) in their answer to a request for selection (RfS). Within the first year of commercial operation, the developer has the option of revising the yearly CUF. Finally, CUFs should be constant over PPA’s whole period. At a minimum, the disclosed yearly CUF should be 17 percent of the total budget.

The developer must generate yearly CUF between 10% and 15% of the declared value for ten years following the commercial operation. After 25 years, the CUF should be at least 15%, with a range of 10% to 20%. So, while crafting their answers to the RfS, bidders should take in mind the MNRE’s decision to impose a BCD on solar cells and modules.

There is no limit on how much a business or consortium may contribute to the RfS, as long as it has enough money to fulfill the required equity investment and performance bank guarantees. The bidder’s net worth should be at least $7 million ($90,244)/MW.

Interested firms were invited to submit proposals for 200 MW solar projects in September. The Uttar Pradesh Solar Park will include three projects totaling 150MW in Jalaun and Kanpur Dehat (totaling 50MW). Agribusiness firm Bundelkhand Saur Urja has shown interest in developing grid-connected solar plants in Jalaun, UP.

NTPC invited tenders for a 10 MW solar project in Telangana

The 10 MW solar power plants at NTPC Limited’s Ramagundam facility in Telangana has requested proposals for a biennial operation and maintenance (O&M) contract.

To be eligible for the bidding procedure, the bidder must have completed the installation and commissioning of a solar power plant with a capacity of at least 5 MW and grid connection within the previous seven years.

The deadline for proposal submissions is June 6, 2022. On June 9, bids will be accepted. ‘Class I local suppliers’ will be given priority. A minimum of 60% local content is required for a bidder to be classified as a “Class-I local supplier.” Alternatively, the bidder must have operated and maintained a grid-connected solar power plant with a capacity of at least 5 MW for the last seven years.

 A valid electrical license should be held by the bidder. In the previous three financial years, the bidder’s average yearly turnover should not have been less than $5 million ($64,750). This tender will be open to any bidder from a nation that has a land border with India.

As an earnest money deposit, bidders must provide a sum equal to Rs. 200,000. As bid security, the contractor shall give a sum equal to 10% of the contract. If a bidder fails to fulfil the financial criteria, its holding company must meet the specified turnover requirements, provided that the holding company’s net worth on the last day of the previous financial year is at least equal to or more than the paid-up share capital.

NTPC has previously requested bids for the operation and maintenance of a 10 MW solar plant in Ramagundam for two years in January 2020.

India Adds 10 GW Solar Capacity in 2022

According to Mercom Communications India, Solar power generation in India is expected to rise by an extraordinary 210 percent to 10 gigawatts by 2021. Mercom Communications India is a subsidiary of Mercom Capital Group, a US-based investment firm.

In CY 2021, India installed a record 10 GW of solar capacity. When compared to the previous year’s 3.2 gigawatts, this is a 210 percent increase. Newly installed solar capacity in 2021 set a new high and accounted for 62% of overall power generation growth in 2021, according to the report. Only 68 percent of the total installations in the calendar year 2021 came from the top 10 solar power producers, according to research from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). Utility-scale solar developers Renew Power and Adani Green were the most well-known.

Arctech Solar was the leading provider of solar trackers in 2021, while Sungrow was the leading seller of solar inverters. In 2021, rooftop solar power capacity grew by 1.7 GW. Tata Power Solar installed the most rooftop solar panels, with a 20 percent share of the market.

Solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) service providers reported a rise in projects in 2021 compared to the previous year, according to research. Sterling & Wilson was the year’s top EPC supplier, followed closely by Siemens Gamesa and Tata Power Solar, according to the survey.

As compared to prior years, the number of open-access solar installations climbed by 222%. It was the second-best year in the company’s history. Imports of solar panels will rise by a whopping 641% in 2021. For the second consecutive year, LONGi Solar was the leading module provider in India.

A Fully Commissioned 90W Solar Power Project By Azure In Assam

One of India’s leading firms for providing sustainable energy solutions and also a major contributor and producer of renewable power, Azure Power has recently announced for the successful commissioning of its 90 MW solar power plant in Assam which also makes it the largest in the state.

However, it shall also be further noted that the state’s overall 90-MW capacity is distributed in four major districts of Kamrup, Udalguri, Cachar, and Nagaon. The project was a big one and therefore was completed in different phases. The final and last 25 MW were effectively commissioned in Cachar. The solar power generated by this plant which is under a long-term 25-year PPA priced at INR 3.34 (US 4.4% cents) per KWh is received by Assam Power Distribution Company Limited.

With this new success delivery in the list by the solar energy provider in the country, the Azure Power now has an overall operational capacity of more than 2,900 MW which is counted in the most high-performing renewable energy source and asset in India.

On this new success, the CFO for Azure Power, Mr. Pawan Kumar Agarwal added that “We are extremely proud of all our teams, especially those at the site. They have displayed tremendous dedication and tenacity in the face of considerable execution challenges. The project will go a long way in meeting India’s clean energy objectives,”
